Homemade Sangria

On a whim, my house decided to make some sangria. A couple of our friends left a cheap bottle of red wine at our place last week, because it was sooooo cheap that it was actually really horrible tasting. We decided the best way to drink it would be to make it into sangria. The cheap college students that we are, instead of adding extra ingredients like more liquor and flavoring, we basically just sliced up some fruit and let it soak in wine for 4 hours. As sangria goes, not the best. As an alternative way to drink really crappy wine, it was a total win. The wine soaked apples were extremely yummy, but the oranges stole the show. They were so so so good. The flavor of the lemons and oranges diffused into the wine making it a bit more pleasant to drink. It was a fun thing to do last minute to spice up an evening that we were expecting to be quiet.
